Pay: $20.00 per hour

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Prep Cook to join our community kitchen team. This role supports daily meal preparation and kitchen operations in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate is organized, team-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures Sous Chef has necessary ingredients for food preparation by sorting

and distributing ingredients to appropriate work areas.

• Guides and assists volunteers to prepare and serve nutritious, meals with food

safety procedures as a priority,

• Prepares raw ingredients (washing, peeling, cutting, seasoning, etc) for weekly

menu

• Complies with all sanitation and food safety regulations for

local health department and other regulatory agencies

• Maintains clean work surfaces, equipment, work area, and follows appropriate disposal of refuse.

• Maintains temperature logs and other records to meet reporting and compliance requirements.

• Supports meal services including anticipating food item re-stocking, and appropriate temperature control.

• Supports a warm and welcoming environment and greets guests

• Supports Sous Chef in inventory counts, receiving products, product storage using FIFO, dating and labeling completed products, and stock rotation.

• Crosstrain for other positions within the Community Kitchen and attend training courses as appropriate.

• Perform other duties or special projects as directed

Qualifications:

• Must possess valid Serv Safe and Food Handler’s Certification.

• 1+ years of culinary experience required.

• High School diploma or equivalent degree required.

• Culinary Arts certificate or equivalent degree strongly preferred

• Strong customer service and organizational skills.

• Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Carries out tasks in an efficient manner

• Ability to carry out tasks quickly, competently and within designated time frame in a fast-paced work environment.

• Capable of moving 30-50lbs throughout building; Must be able to move and transport cases of product on a regular basis.
